BALL FIELDS REMAIN CLOSED DUE TO COUNTY SHELTER IN PLACE HEALTH ORDER
The City of Pittsburg is complying with our health experts and we thank the residents of Pittsburg for their understanding as we have maintained the closure of all playing fields in the City. That includes ball fields at City Park, Central Park, and Highlights Ranch. The intent of the County Public Health Order is to reduce public gatherings and the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
However, in the last several weeks, we have had reports of large tournaments being played at our City Park fields. And we’ve learned that the organizers, Bay Area Legends 2020, intend to return this weekend for another unauthorized event.
It is the City’s obligation to follow the health orders. So, going forward we will have staff and police patrolling our parks to ensure there are no additional violations this weekend or any time before the Public Health Order is lifted.
These are tough times and we all want to return to our typical rites of summer. Let’s all hope these restrictions can be lifted soon.
