Built as a center median on Pittsburg’s Eighth Street, this ten block linear park provides a variety of landscape experiences for those walking along the median, including a dry creek with cobblestones, boulders, and grasses. Benches are located throughout and there is a picnic area with tables and a BBQ pit located at Eighth and Cumberland.
There are two tot lot playgrounds (ages 2-5) located at Eighth and East and Eighth and Cutter Street. We have also recently installed distance markers throughout the park to mark the .7 mile walk from Harbor to Herb White Way. Site constraints included planting only low-growing shrubs or trees to reduce root invasion of the conduits and having clear sight lines for traffic and pedestrian safety. This park formerly was the Sacramento Northern Railroad right-of-way. Parking stalls are provided along the park.
