The Finance Department is primarily responsible for providing the City and its agencies with the oversight and controls necessary to ensure sound financial management, budgeting, accounting, revenue collection and protection of the City's assets. The Department provides accounting, fiscal management and information support services to all the City departments and agencies within the framework of City policies and procedures. Specifically, the Department maintains all financial and accounting records for all departments, divisions, and agencies of the City (including the Redevelopment Agency, the Pittsburg Power Company, and the Housing Authority). In addition, the Finance Department prepares the City's annual budget. The Finance Department manages the City’s financial resources in a prudent, responsible and effective manner as well as providing internal support and reporting of various activities to enhance accountability and to assist with financial strategic planning and decision-making.
