Columbus Day

City offices will be closed on Monday, October 12 in observance of Columbus Day.  Columbus Day celebrates the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus.  It first became an official state holiday in Colorado in 1906 and became a federal holiday in 1934 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  Since 1971 the holiday has been fixed to the second Monday in October.
